S 1445 General Bill, By J.V. Smith
A Bill to amend Section 44-53-110, as amended, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to definitions of narcotics and controlled substances, so as to define "crystallized methamphetamine (Ice)"; to amend Section 44-53-375, relating to the unlawful possession of crack cocaine, the unlawful manufacture, distribution, or possession with intent to distribute of crack cocaine, and penalties for violation, so as to include ice; to amend Section 44-53-440, as amended, relating to the felony of distributing certain controlled substances to a person under the age of eighteen which is a separate offense, so as to include the manufacture, distribution, or possession with intent to distribute of ice; and to amend Section 44-53-445, as amended, relating to the crime of distributing, selling, or manufacturing, or unlawfully possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance while within a radius of one-half mile of the grounds of an elementary, middle, or secondary school, so as to provide that the separate penalty, upon conviction, when a violation involves crack cocaine also applies when the violation involves ice.
