AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 42-15-60, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERIODS WITHIN WHICH MEDICAL TREATMENT AND SUPPLIES SHALL BE FURNISHED AS PART OF WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION BENEFITS, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT PROSTHETIC DEVICES SHALL BE FURNISHED TO AN INJURED EMPLOYEE WITH A TOTAL AND PERMANENT DISABILITY THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF SUCH EMPLOYEE AND TO PERSONS WITH PARTIAL PERMANENT DISABILITY FOR LIFE OR SO LONG AS THEY ARE NECESSARY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Prosthetic devices furnished to injured employees

Section 1. The last paragraph of Section 42-15-60 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"In cases in which total and permanent disability result, reasonable and necessary nursing services, medicines, prosthetic devices, sick travel, medical, hospital and other treatment or care shall be paid during the life of the injured employee, without regard to any limitation in this title including the maximum compensation limit. In cases of partial permanent disability, prosthetic devices shall be also furnished during the life of the injured employee or so long as they are necessary."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
