AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 30-5-10, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO REGISTERS OF MESNE CONVEYANCES SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT SUMTER COUNTY SHALL HAVE A REGISTER OF MESNE CONVEYANCES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Register of Mesne Conveyances

Section 1. Section 30-5-10 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 458 Of 1978, is further amended to read:

"Section 30-5-10. In every county in the State other than Aiken, Berkeley, Charleston, Greenville, Lexington, Richland, Spartanburg and Sumter the duties prescribed by law for the register of mesne conveyances shall be performed by the clerk of court who shall have all the powers and emoluments given the register of mesne conveyances in Aiken, Berkeley, Charleston, Greenville, Lexington, Richland, Spartanburg and Sumter counties. The register of mesne conveyances in Berkeley County shall be initially appointed for a term of four years, commencing January 1, 1979, by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate and shall first be elected to office in the general election of 1982, such term to commence at the same time and for the same duration as the initial appointment."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
