AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 12-37-220, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO AD VALOREM TAX EXEMPTIONS, SO AS TO INCLUDE HANDICAPPED PERSONS WITHIN THE EXEMPTION OF PROPERTY OF NONPROFIT HOUSING CORPORATIONS FOR THE AGED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Tax exemption for handicapped persons

Section 1. Item (11) of subsection B. of Section 12-37-220 of the 1976 Code, added by Act 621 Of 1978, is amended to read:

"(11) All property of nonprofit housing corporations devoted exclusively to providing below-cost housing for the aged or for handicapped persons or for both aged and handicapped persons."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
