AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 12-35-550, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FROM THE SALES TAX, SO AS TO EXEMPT FROM THE SALE TAX ON A GRADUATED BASIS A CERTAIN PERCENTAGE OF THE GROSS PROCEEDS OF THE SALE OF MOBILE HOMES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Exemption from sales tax

Section 1. Section 12-35-550 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 179 of 1979, is further amended by adding a new item to be appropriately numbered which shall read:

"( ) A percentage of the gross proceeds of the sale of mobile homes as such are defined in Section 31-17-20 according to the following schedule:

(a) for the fiscal year July 1, 1981, until June 30, 1982, fifteen percent;

(b) for the fiscal year July 1, 1982, until June 30, 1983, twenty-five percent; and

(c) for the fiscal year July 1, 1983, until June 30, 1984, and each year thereafter, thirty-five percent."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
