AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 924 OF 1970, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO ST. PAUL'S CONSTITUENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 23 IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR STAGGERED TERMS OF OFFICE FOR THE TRUSTEES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Trustees of St. Paul's Constituent School District No. 23.

Section 1. Section 1 of Act 924 of 1970, as amended by Section 1 of Act 914 of 1974, is further amended to read:

"Section 1. St. Paul's Constituent School District No. 23 in Charleston County (which was created by the consolidation of Edisto Island School District No. 13, Adams Run School District No. 19, Yonge's Island School District No. 15, Rantowles School District No. 22, Ravenel School District No. 17, and Collins School District No. 18, in the county, by action of the county board of education of Charleston County) shall be composed of seven constituent school trustees. The trustees shall be elected in the general elections for terms of four years and until their successors are elected and qualified; provided, that of those six trustees who shall be elected in the 1980 general election, the three receiving the lower number of votes shall serve for terms of three years, after which all trustees shall serve for terms of four years."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
