AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 44-53-210, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO NARCOTICS AND CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, SO AS TO ADD THE SUBSTANCE PHENYLACETONE TO SCHEDULE II OF THE SCHEDULES OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Phenylacetone added to Schedule II

Section 1. Section 44-53-210 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 118 of 1979, is further amended by adding:

"(g) Unless specifically excepted or unless listed in another schedule, any material, compound, mixture, or preparation which contains any quantity of the following substance:

(1) Immediate precursor to amphetamine and methamphetamine:

(i) Phenylacetone, also known as phenyl-2-propane; P2P; benzyl methyl ketone; methyl benzyl ketone."

Time Effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval of the Governor.
