AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-140, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO VOTING PRECINCTS IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF LAMBS PRECINCT TO GOODWIN PRECINCT; AND TO AMEND ACT 664 OF 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO VOTING PLACES IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO CHANGE THE VOTING PLACES OF MEGGETT, CHARLESTON 5, CHARLESTON 8, CHARLESTON 23 AND CHARLESTON 25 AND DESIGNATE THE VOTING PLACES FOR NORTH CHARLESTON 12 AND CHARLESTON 28 PRECINCTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Goodwin voting precinct

Section 1. Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by R 331 of 1980, is further amended by striking Lambs Precinct and inserting:

"Goodwin Precinct--Beginning at the intersection of Dorchester Rd. with the tracks of Seaboard Coastline Railway, then westwardly along the tracks to the Ashley River, then northwardly along the Ashley River to the Dorchester County line, then northwardly along said Dorchester County line to the intersection of the line with the Dorchester Rd., then southerly along Dorchester Rd. to a point just north of Glyn Terrace, then along the boundary of North Charleston Precinct No. 1 around Glyn Terrace and Oak Ridge Estates to the intersection of Wando Woods--Waylyn Precinct No. 1, then along Dorchester Rd. to the point of beginning."

Voting places changed

Section 2. Section 1 of Act 664 of 1976, as last amended by Act 498 of 1978, is further amended by adding after "North Charleston 12" "North Charleston 13--Pepperhill Elementary School"; by striking "Hollywood Fire Station" opposite "Meggett" and inserting "C. C. Blaney School"; by striking opposite "Charleston 5" "Columbus Street Elementary School" and inserting "Wilmot Frasier School"; by striking opposite "Charleston 8" "County Hall" and inserting "James Simmons Elementary School"; by striking opposite "Charleston 23" "Albemarle Elementary School" and inserting "Playground Road--Forrest Park Swimming Center"; and by adding at the end:

"Charleston 28 -- Charleston County Food Stamp Center".

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
