AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE CLOSING OF GRACE MEMORIAL BRIDGE IN CHARLESTON COUNTY FOR THE ANNUAL COOPER RIVER BRIDGE RUN AND TO PROVIDE IMMUNITY FROM LIABILITY FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS, AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, THE CITY OF CHARLESTON AND THE TOWN OF MT. PLEASANT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Bridge closed for Cooper River Bridge Run

Section 1. The Grace Memorial Bridge in Charleston County shall be closed by the Department of Highways and Public Transportation for a period not exceeding two hours beginning at nine a. m. on the last Saturday in March of each year so that those participating in the annual Cooper River Bridge Run may cross the bridge in a safe manner. The Department of Highways and Public Transportation, the City of Charleston, the Town of Mt. Pleasant and the organizers and sponsors of the run shall be immune from liability except for gross negligence from incidents arising from participation in or association with the run.

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
