AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR FOUR MAGISTRATES FOR BAMBERG COUNTY, ONE BEING FULL-TIME AND THREE BEING PART-TIME, ALL WITH COUNTYWIDE JURISDICTION, TO PROVIDE FOR FEES, SALARIES AND JURISDICTION OF SUCH MAGISTRATES, AND FOR THE COURT'S JURY AREA, AND TO REPEAL CONFLICTING PORTIONS OF ACT 197 OF 1921.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Magistrates in Bamberg County

Section 1. In Bamberg County there shall be appointed from the county at large four magistrates whose jurisdiction shall be countywide. One of the magistrates shall be paid on a full-time basis and three shall be paid on a part-time basis. The fees or salaries of these magistrates shall be set and paid according to law. The jury area for the magistrates' courts shall be countywide.

Magistrates may continue to serve

Section 2. Any person presently serving as magistrate in Bamberg County shall continue to serve until his successor is appointed and qualifies.

Repeal

Section 3. The third subparagraph, entitled "Bamberg County", of Section 1 of Act 197 of 1921 is repealed.

Time effective

Section 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
