AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-360, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN LAURENS COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE SUCH PRECINCTS AND SPECIFICALLY DEFINE THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PRECINCTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Voting precincts in Laurens County

Section 1. Section 7-7-360 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 383 of 1982, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-360. In Laurens County there shall be the following precincts:

Ward One (001): Beginning at a point on U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass at Mills Street and running westward with U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass to the C&WC Railroad; thence following the C&WC Railroad in a southerly direction to the CN&L Railroad; thence with the CN&L Railroad to Mills Street; thence northerly with Mills Street to point of beginning.

Ward Two (002): Beginning at a point on North Harper Street at Watts Avenue intersection then running with the northern city limits of Laurens in a westerly direction to U. S. Highway 14; thence southerly along U. S. Highway 14 and Spring Street to U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass; thence U. S. Highway By-Pass to North Harper Street; thence northerly with North Harper Street to the beginning.

Ward Three (003): Beginning at a point on North Harper Street at Watts Avenue and running southerly with North Harper Street to Fleming Street; thence easterly along Fleming Street to Mills Street; thence southerly with Mills Street to East Main Street; thence with East Main Street to the eastern city limits of Laurens then following the city limits of Laurens easterly and northerly to the Fleming Street Extension; thence following the city limits of Laurens northwesterly to the CN&L Railroad and northerly with the CN&L Railroad to Watts Avenue; thence with Watts Avenue to the point of beginning.

Ward Four (004): Beginning at a point on U. S. Highway 221 at intersection of Chestnut Street and U. S. Highway 221 and running generally eastward along the city limits of Laurens to U. S. Highway 76; thence with East Main Street in a westward direction to the CN&L Railroad then with the CN&L Railroad to the C&WC Railroad then with the C&WC Railroad to South Harper Street; thence with South Harper Street and U. S. Highway 221 to point of beginning.

Ward Five (005): Beginning at a point on South Harper Street at C&WC Railroad and running westerly with C&WC Railroad to West Main Street; thence with West Main Street to a point approximately 750 feet beyond Blakeley Avenue; thence southeasterly following the city limits of Laurens to Longview Drive; thence along Longview Drive to a point near Blackberry Trail then northerly following the city limits of Laurens to a point approximately 500 feet west of secondary road 498 on U. S. Highway 76 then westward with U. S. Highway 76 to a point then southerly with the city limits of Laurens to Lemontree Trail; thence continuing in a southeasterly direction with the city limits of Laurens to U. S. Ward Six (006): Beginning at a point on West Main Street at the C&WC Railroad and running with West Main Street to a point approximately 300 feet beyond U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass; thence turning northward and following the city limits of Laurens around Oakdale Acres to a point on U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass; thence westerly along U. S. Highway 76 By-Pass to a point approximately 500 feet southwest of Overbrook Drive; thence northward with the city limits of Laurens to a point on the C&WC Railroad near Kingston Drive; thence following the city limits of Laurens around Holliday Acres to U. Trinity Ridge (008): Beginning at a point on the C&WC Railroad near the northernmost edge of city limits of Laurens and running in a westerly direction to Lick Creek at a point north of secondary road 110; thence southerly with Lick Creek to Rabon Creek; thence with Rabon Creek to S. C. Highway 252 easterly in a straight line to Burnt Mill Creek at secondary road 84; thence running northwesterly along city limits of Laurens to U. S. Highway 76; thence running easterly with U. S. Wattsville (009): Beginning at a point on U. S. Highway 276 at south fork of Duncan Creek and running westerly with U. S. Brewerton (044): Beginning on Reedy river at U. S. Highway 76 then southwesterly in a straight line passing over bridge on secondary road 258 to Saluda River; thence southerly with Saluda River to a point; thence northeasterly in a straight line passing through intersection of U. S. Highway 25 to Walnut Creek on secondary road 80; thence northeasterly to Reedy River at S. C. Highway 252; thence northerly with Reedy River to the beginning.

Merna (045): Beginning at a point on South Rabon Creek at the Greenville county line running with Greenville county line to secondary road 20; thence easterly in a straight line to South Rabon Creek at secondary road 77; thence northerly with South Rabon Creek to the beginning.

Clinton Mill (046): Beginning on the CN&L Railroad at a point approximately 1/4 mile west of secondary road 46 and running generally westwardly following Beards Fork Creek to a point approximately 500 feet northwest of S. C. Highway 308; thence southerly parallel to S. C. Highway 308 to the city limits of Clinton; thence westerly with the city limits of Clinton to a point between Elizabeth Street and Broad Street; thence southerly between Elizabeth Street and Broad Street to Academy Street; thence westward with Academy Street to Elizabeth Street; thence southerly with Elizabeth Street to West Pitts Street; thence westward with West Pitts Street to Laurens Street; thence southerly with Laurens Street to West Main Street; thence easterly with West Main Street to Thornwell Street; thence southerly with Thornwell Street to CN&L, Railroad; thence westward with the CN&L Railroad to the beginning point.

The precinct lines defining the above precincts are as shown on maps filed with the clerk of court of the county and also on file with the State Election Commission as provided and maintained by the Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board."

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
