AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 332 OF 1980, RELATING TO THE CLASSIFICATION OF PROPERTY QUALIFYING FOR THE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 12-37-250, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, (TAXPAYERS SIXTY-FIVE OR OVER, TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED OR LEGALLY BLIND), AS RESIDENTIAL AND THE TAXATION OF SUCH PROPERTY ON AN ASSESSMENT EQUAL TO FOUR PERCENT OF THE PROPERTY'S FAIR MARKET VALUE, SO AS TO DELAY THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF SUCH ACT IN THOSE COUNTIES THAT HAVE NOT COMPLETED A REASSESSMENT PROGRAM UNTIL SUCH REASSESSMENT IS COMPLETED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Section 1. Section 2 of Act 332 of 1980 is amended to read:

"Section 2. This act upon approval by the Governor shall be effective for the tax year beginning January 1, 1980, and each year thereafter; provided, that for those counties that have not completed a reassessment program under Title 12, Chapter 43, Article 3, of the 1976 Code the provisions of this act shall not apply until completion of such reassessment."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
