AN ACT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF 'THE BERKELEY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION FROM THIRTEEN TO FIFTEEN AND TO REPEAL ACT 705 OF 1976, RELATING TO THE MEMBERS OF THE BERKELEY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Berkeley County Board of Education

SECTION 1. In Berkeley County the county board of education shall be composed of fifteen members, one of whom shall be the county superintendent of education, and fourteen of whom shall be appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the county legislative delegation. The terms of office for the members appointed by the Governor shall be for a period of four years and until their successors shall be appointed and qualify.

Repeal

SECTION 2. Act 705 of 1976 (Section 21-1451 of the 1962 Code) is repealed.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
