AN ACT TO RATIFY AN AMENDMENT TO SECTION 3, ARTICLE IV, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1895, RELATING TO THE ELECTION OF THE GOVERNOR, SO AS TO PERMIT A GOVERNOR TO BE ELECTED TO TWO SUCCESSIVE TERMS.

Be it enacted by the Gencral Assembly of the State of Soutll Carolina: Constitutional amendment ratified

SECTION 1. The amendment to Section 3 of Article IV of the Constitution of South Carolina, 1895, proposed under the terms of Joint Resolution 520 of 1980, having been submitted to the qualified electors at the general election of 1980 as prescribed in Section I of Article XVI of the Constitution of South Carolina, 1895, and a favorable vote having been received thereon, is ratified and declared to be a part of the Constitution, so that Section 3 of Article IV' is amended to read:

"Section 3. The Governor shall be elected by the qualified voters of the State at the regular election every other even-numbered year after 1970. No person shall be elected Governor for more than two successive terms."
