AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ABOLITION OF THE HILDA MAGISTRATE'S OFFICE IN BARNWELL COUNTY AS OF JUNE 1, 1981; AND TO REPEAL ACT 918 OF 1971.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Magistrates in Barnwell County

SECTION 1. There shall be three magistrates for Barnwell County.

One magistrate shall reside in each of the following school districts:

Barnwell; Blackville; Williston. Each magistrate shall be appointed as provided by law for a term of four years and until his successor is appointed and qualifies, shall have countywide jurisdiction and shall have the right -to appoint his own constable.

Office of magistrate at Hilda abolished

SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 1 of this act, the office of magistrate at Hilda shall continue until June 1, 1981, at which time it shall be abolished.

Repeal

SECTION 3. Act 918 of 1971 is repealed.

Time effective

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
