AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 50-17-2160, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO SETTING NETS TO CATCH SHAD IN GAME ZONES 7 AND 9 AND BERKELEY COUNTY, SO AS TO DELETE GAME ZONE 9; AND TO AMEND THE CODE BY ADDING SECTION 50-17-2165 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL TO CATCH SHAD OR SET DEVICES TO CATCH SHAD IN GAME ZONES 9 AND 10 FROM TWELVE NOON ON SUNDAY UNTIL TWELVE NOON ON THE TUESDAY FOLLOWING DURING THE OPEN SEASON, EXCEPT WITH SKIMBOW NETS FOR NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES ON THE BLACK OR GREAT PEE DEE RIVERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Lawful to set nets to catch shad in Game Zone 7

SECTION 1. Section 50-17-2160 of the 1976 Code is amended by striking on line one "Zones Nos. 7 and 9" and inserting "Zone 7". 'I he section when amended shall read:

"Section 50-17-2160. In Game Zone 7 and Berkeley County it shall be lawful to set nets to catch shad from Monday noon until Saturday noon during the open season.

Unlawful to catch shad during certain hours Game Zone 9 and 10

SECTION 2. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-17-2165. In Game Zones 9 and 10 it shall be unlawful to catch shad or set any seine or net or other device for the taking of shad from twelve noon on Sunday until twelve noon on the Tuesday following during the open season, except with skimbow nets for noncommercial purposes on the Black or Great Pee Dee Rivers within such game zones."

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
