AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 843 OF 1952, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE MILLAGE LIMITATION FOR TAXES SHALL NOT BE APPLICABLE TO OR LIMIT IN ANY MANNER THE PAYMENT OF GENERAL OBLIGATION INDEBTEDNESS INCURRED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF LEE COUNTY PURSUANT TO ANY PROVISION OF LAW ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Millage limitation not applicable to manner of payment on certain general obligation indebtedness incurred by school district of Lee County

SECTION 1. Item (15) of Section 2 of Act 843 of 1952, as last amended by Act 524 of 1969, is further amended to read:

"(15) To adopt budgets and budgetary controls and set tax levies not exceeding sixty-five mills, on countywide basis sufficient to meet the educational needs of Lee County; provided, however, such millage limitation shall not be applicable to or limit in any manner the payment of the principal of and interest on any general obligation indebtedness incurred by the school district pursuant to any act of the General Assembly heretofore or hereafter enacted."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
