AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 446 OF 1978, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO FREE REGISTRATION AND LICENSING OF MOTOR VEHICLES OF CERTAIN FORMER PRISONERS OF WAR, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A VETERAN ISSUED SUCH A PLATE SHALL NOT BE REQUIRED TO REAPPLY FOR IT SO LONG AS HE OWNS THE VEHICLE FOR WHICH IT IS ISSUED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Veteran not required to reapply for license

Section 1. Section 1 of Act 446 of 1978, as last amended by Act 163 of 1979, is further amended by adding at the end:

"Any veteran who is issued a license plate under the provisions of this shall not be required to reapply so long as he owns vehicle for which the plate is issued. The plates shall bear the words 'South Carolina', the number and prefix 'POW'."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
