AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 55-5-30, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA AERONAUTICS COMMISSION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE CHAIRMEN OF THE EDUCATION AND PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE OF THE SENATE OR THEIR DESIGNEES SHALL BE EX OFFICIO MEMBERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Aeronautics Commission--composition

Section 1. Section 55-5-30 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding before the last sentence "The chairmen of the Education and Public Works Committee of the House of Representatives and the Transportation Committee of the Senate or their designees shall serve ex officio." The section as amended shall read:

"Section 55-5-30. The South Carolina Aeronautics Commission shall consist of seven members to be appointed in the following manner: One member shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, from each of the congressional districts of the State, each of whom shall serve for a term of four years and until his successor is appointed and duly qualified. One member shall be appointed from the State at large by the Governor, who shall serve for a term of six years and until his successor is appointed and duly qualified. At no time shall there be more than three members on the Commission who are directly engaged in commercial aviation. The chairmen of the Education and Public Works Committee of the House of Representatives and the Transportation Committee of the Senate or their designees shall serve ex officio. The Governor may fill vacancies in the office of commissioner for the unexpired term."

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
