AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-2676 SO AS TO DESIGNATE THE RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISIONS IN BERKELEY COUNTY NEAR GOOSE CREEK, KNOWN AS ST. JAMES ESTATES, SPRING HILL, DEVONSHIRE, RAINTREE AND HARBOR LAKE AS A BIRD SANCTUARY AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Area designated bird sanctuary

Section 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-2676. The residential subdivisions of that area in Berkeley County located near Goose Creek, South Carolina, known as St. James Estates, Spring Hill, Devonshire, Raintree and Harbor Lake are hereby designated as a bird sanctuary, and it shall be unlawful for any person to trap, hunt, molest or attempt to molest in any manner any bird or wild fowl or to molest any birds' nests or wild fowls' nests within such sanctuary.

Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to a fine of two hundred dollars or imprisonment for thirty days."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
