AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT TERMS IN THE UNION COUNTY BOARD OF SCHOOL TRUSTEES SHALL BE FILLED BY CALL OF A SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE BOARD TO FILL THE UNEXPIRED TERMS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Special election called to fill vacancies

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, after May 1, 1981, in the event of a vacancy in the Union County Board of School Trustees, the Board shall call a special election to fill the unexpired term. Provided, the vacancy does not occur within six months of a regular trustee election. In such case, a vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term at the next regular election.

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
