AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 639 OF 1973, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE OLD FORT FIRE DISTRICT IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT THE FIRE CONTROL BOARD THEREOF MAY BORROW.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Fire Control Board--may borrow increased amount

Section 1. Section 6D of Act 639 of 1973, as last amended by Act 825 of 1976, is further amended by striking "fifty" on line three and inserting "two hundred fifty". The section as amended shall read:

"Section 6D. In the event of a favorable vote on the referendum provided for in Section 6A, the Fire Control Board is authorized to borrow not exceeding two hundred fifty thousand dollars on such terms and for such periods as it may deem most beneficial to the fire district in anticipation of tax revenue to be used for the purposes authorized in this act. The indebtedness shall be evidenced by a note executed by the chairman of the board and the county treasurer secured by a pledge of the full credit and taxing power of the fire district, and the Auditor and Treasurer of Dorchester County shall levy and collect the tax of not more than fifteen mills, to be determined by the Board of Fire Control with the approval of the governing body of the county, upon all taxable property of the district. All monies so collected shall be credited to the fire district."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
