AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1197 OF 1930, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE, SO AS TO FURTHER DEFINE AND ENUMERATE THE COMPOSITION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Board of Trustees of Presbyterian College composition

Section 1. Section 2 of Act 1197 of 1930, as last amended by Act 1318 of 1974, is further amended to read:

"Section 2. The Board of Trustees of Presbyterian College shall consist of not less than twenty nor more than forty members. The Synod of the Southeast of the Presbyterian Church in the United States shall elect from its membership within the State of South Carolina and the membership of its churches within the State of South Carolina up to fourteen members to the Board. The Synod of the Southeast of the Presbyterian Church in the United States shall elect from its membership within the State of Georgia and the membership of its churches within the State of Georgia up to fourteen members to the Board. The Alumni Association of the college may elect three members to the Board, all of whom shall be members of Evangelical Christian Churches. The Board may elect up to nine members to the Board, all of whom shall be members of Evangelical Christian Churches.

Trustees shall be elected for a term of three years and until their successors are elected. They shall be eligible for reelection for two additional terms. Trustees, who have served with extraordinary benefit to the college, may be reelected to additional terms. If either the Synod or the Alumni Association shall fail to appoint or elect their members to the Board, appointments to fill the vacancies may be made by the remaining members of the Board of Trustees in an annual meeting. The appointees shall serve until the Synod or Alumni Association shall elect trustees in the manner provided by this act to succeed them."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
