AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1080 OF 1966, RELATING TO MILLAGE INCREASES IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF ANDERSON COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT LIMITATIONS SHALL NOT APPLY TO GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Referendum required for increase in tax levy

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 1080 of 1966 is amended to read:

"Section 1. No school district in Anderson County shall increase its tax levy more than five mills for current operation, not general obligation bonds for capital improvement, in any one fiscal year without having obtained the prior approval of a majority of the qualified electors of the district in a referendum."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
