AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE TERMS OF THE SCHOOL TRUSTEES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT NOS. 20 AND 23 IN CHARLESTON COUNTY SHALL BE STAGGERED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Terms of school trustees

Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Act 397 of 1973, of those school trustees in School District No. 20 in Charleston County elected in the general election of 1982, the four receiving the greatest number of votes shall serve for a term of four years and the three receiving the next greatest number of votes shall serve for a term of two years.

Terms of school trustees

Section 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of Act 397 of 1973, the school trustees in School District No. 23 of Charleston County elected in the general election of 1984, the three in the district receiving the greatest number of votes shall serve for a term of four years and the three in the district receiving the next greatest number of votes shall serve for a term of two years.

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
