AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE ELECTION AND TERM OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION OF LANCASTER COUNTY AND TO REPEAL SECTION 12 OF ACT 813 OF 1952, RELATING TO THE SAME SUBJECT MATTER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Term of superintendent

SECTION 1. The Superintendent of Education of Lancaster County shall be elected in the general election to be held in 1984 and in each general election every four years thereafter and shall serve from January 1, 1985, for a term of four years and until his successor has been elected and qualifies.

Superintendent shall serve

SECTION 2. The present Superintendent of Education shall serve until his successor shall be elected and qualifies.

Repeal

SECTION 3. Section 12 of Act 813 of 1952 (Section 21-3205, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1962) is repealed.

Time effective

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
