AN ACT TO AMEND AN ACT OF 1981 BEARING RATIFICATION NUMBER 222, RELATING TO THE ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF GREENVILLE COUNTY, SO AS TO POSTPONE THE SCHEDULED FEBRUARY 9, 1982, ELECTION AND EXTEND THE TERMS OF MEMBERS IN THE EVENT REDISTRICTING AND REPRECINCTING HAS NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHED BY DECEMBER 31, 1981.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Election for school board trustees may be postponed

SECTION 1. Section 1 of an act of 1981 bearing ratification number 222 is amended by adding after the first paragraph:

"In the event redistricting of school board districts and the subsequent reprecincting of the precincts has not been accomplished by December 1, 1981, (including approval thereof by the U.S. justice Department) the election to be held February 9, 1982, shall be postponed until the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the first month which follows by at least seventy days the accomplishment of such redistricting and reprecincting. The terms of those members of the board of trustees whose terms were to expire March 1, 1982, shall be extended to expire on the first day of the first month following the new election day herein established."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
