AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE CLOSING OF RICHARD V. WOODS MEMORIAL BRIDGE AND THE J. E. MCTEER, SR. BRIDGE IN BEAUFORT COUNTY FOR THE ANNUAL MARCH OF DIMES BEAUFORT BRIDGE RUN AND TO PROVIDE IMMUNITY FROM LIABILITY FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, THE CITY OF BEAUFORT, THE TOWN OF PORT ROYAL AND BEAUFORT COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Bridge closed

Section 1. The Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge and the J. E. McTeer, Sr. Bridge in Beaufort County shall be closed by the Department of Highways and Public Transportation for a period not exceeding two hours beginning at nine a.m. on the third Saturday in October of each year so the those participating in the annual March of Dimes Beaufort Bridge Run may cross the bridges in a safe manner. The Department of Highway and Public Transportation, the City of Beaufort, the Town of Port Royal, Beaufort County, and the organizers and sponsors of the run shall be immune from liability except for gross negligence from incidents arising from participation in or association with the run.

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
