AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 4 OF 1979, RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A "COURT REGISTER" FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THE RULES OF THE SUPREME COURT AND FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THESE RULES AFTER SUBMISSION TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY DISAPPROVING THESE RULES MUST BE CONCURRED IN BY THREE-FIFTHS OF THE MEMBERS OF EACH HOUSE PRESENT AND VOTING.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Rules and amendments to rules governing practice and procedure in courts

SECTION 1. Section 2 of Act 4 of 1979 is amended to read:

"Section 2. All rules and amendments to rules governing practice and procedure in all courts of this State promulgated by the Supreme Court shall be submitted by the Supreme Court to the judiciary Committee of each House of the General Assembly during a regular session, but not later than the first day of February during each session. Such rules or amendments shall become effective ninety calendar days after submission unless disapproved by concurrent resolution of the General Assembly, with the concurrence of three-fifths of the members of each House present and voting."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
