AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-5015, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE REQUIREMENT THAT TRANSPARENT GLASS BE USED IN NEW MOTOR VEHICLES, SO AS TO REQUIRE THE DRIVER INSTEAD OF THE OWNER OF ANY VEHICLE WITH GLASS INSTALLED WHICH IS TRANSPARENT FROM ONLY ONE SIDE TO STOP AND IMMEDIATELY ROLL DOWN THE FRONT WINDOWS WHEN APPREHENDED BY A HIGHWAY PATROLMAN OR OTHER COMMISSIONED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Vehicles with transparent glass from one side

SECTION 1. The second paragraph of Section 56-5-5015 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 139 of 1981, is amended to read:

"The driver of any vehicle with glass installed in the windshield or front windows which is transparent from only one side shall immediately stop and roll down the front windows when apprehended by a highway patrolman or any other commissioned law enforcement officer."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
