AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 16-17-740 SO AS TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO SELL OR POSSESS A NOVELTY DEVICE COMMONLY KNOWN AS A "CIGARETTE LOAD" WHICH MAY CAUSE A CIGARETTE OR CIGAR TO EXPLODE AFTER BEING LIT, AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

"Cigarette load" unlawful, penalties

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 16-17-740. It is unlawful for any person to sell or possess a novelty device commonly known as a 'cigarette load' which may cause a cigarette or cigar to blow up or explode after being lit.

Any person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars or by a term of imprisonment not to exceed thirty days."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
