A JOINT RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE AIKEN COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION TO CONDUCT A REFERENDUM ON APRIL 13, 1983, TO ASCERTAIN THE WISHES OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING WITHIN THE BELVEDERE WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT IN AIKEN COUNTY ON THE QUESTION OF THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE DISTRICT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Election commission to conduct referendum

SECTION 1. The Aiken County Election Commission shall conduct a referendum on April 13, 1983, to ascertain the wishes of the qualified electors residing in the Belvedere Water and Sewer District in Aiken County, as created by Act 935 of 1956, on the question of whether or not they favor the abolishment of the district.

Commissioners to print ballots

SECTION 2. The commissioners of election shall have printed a sufficient number of ballots and have them distributed at the voting places. The ballot shall read as follows: "Do you favor the abolishment of the Belvedere Water and Sewer District?

Those voting in favor of the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'Yes' and those voting against the question shall deposit a ballot with a check or cross mark in the square after the word 'No'."

The officials responsible for canvassing the results of the election shall, within ten days, certify such results to the clerk of court of the county and the Secretary of State.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
