AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR TWO MAGISTRATES FOR SALUDA COUNTY, ONE TO BE CHIEF MAGISTRATE TO SERVE AND BE PAID ON A FULL-TIME BASIS, BOTH WITH COUNTYWIDE JURISDICTION; TO PROVIDE THE COURTS' JURY AREAS AND TO REPEAL ACT 732 OF 1930 RELATING TO MAGISTRATES IN SALUDA COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Two magistrates in Saluda County

SECTION 1. There shall be two magistrates in Saluda County with full magisterial powers and authority, whose jurisdiction is countywide, one of whom is Chief Magistrate. The Chief Magistrate shall serve and be paid on a full-time basis. The jury areas for the magistrates' courts are countywide.

Provisions not to affect magistrates presently serving

SECTION 2. The provisions of this act do not affect the terms of the magistrates presently serving in Saluda County.

Repeal

SECTION 3. Act 732 of 1930 (Sections 43-1001 through 43-1005 of the 1962 Code) is repealed.

Time effective

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
