AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 509 OF 1982, RELATING TO BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF ANDERSON COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT VACANCIES MAY BE FILLED ONLY UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS ELECTED IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION TO TAKE OFFICE ON JANUARY FIRST FOLLOWING THE ELECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Filling of vacancies

SECTION 1. Section 3 of Act 509 of 1982 is amended to read:

"Section 3. In case of a vacancy in the board of trustees, such vacancy must be filled by appointment by the County Board of Education until a successor is elected in the next General Election to take office on January first following the election."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
