AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 50-11-730 AND 50-11-810, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SEASON FOR HUNTING WILD TURKEYS IN GAME ZONE 6 AND HUNTING DOE DEER DURING ABNORMAL CONDITIONS IN SEVERAL GAME ZONES, SO AS TO ADD GAME ZONE NO. 11 TO THE TURKEY HUNTING PROVISIONS AND GAME ZONES NO. 10 AND NO. 11 TO THE DOE HUNTING PROVISIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Seasons on male wild turkeys in Game Zones 6 and 11

SECTION 1. Section 50-11-730 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 50-11-730. In Game Zones No. 6 and No. 11 male wild turkeys, gobblers, may be hunted from March fifteenth to May first, inclusive; but landowners of ten thousand acres or more may have an option of choosing the hunting season provided herein or a hunting season which extends from the day before Thanksgiving to March fifteenth of each year. If they elect the option of the season extending from the day before Thanksgiving to March fifteenth, hunting on such lands during such season is lawful upon the filing of a notarized statement of such election with the Executive Director of the Wildlife and Marine Resources Department at least ten days prior to the opening of the season. The above proviso doesnot apply to the following counties: Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton, and Jasper."

Hunting does during abnormal conditions in certain game zones

SECTION 2. Section 50-11-810 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 50-11-810. The Director of the Division of Game of the Wildlife and Marine Resources Department may make periodic studies of the area in Game Zones No. 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the deer populations and determine the areas where the deer herds need to be reduced, and declare open seasons for taking of doe deer at any time between September first and January first."

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
