AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-250, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO VOTING PRECINCTS IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SO AS TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE HOREB PRECINCT TO HOREB-GLENN PRECINCT.
Whereas, Ernest B. Glenn was born and raised in the Horeb section of Fairfield County; and
Whereas, Doc Glenn, as he was affectionately known by his many friends and acquaintances, was a loyal and dedicated employee of Winnsboro Granite Company until his retirement; and
Whereas, Doc Glenn was a man of deep and abiding Christian beliefs and a faithful husband and loving father raising three daughters and eleven sons; and
Whereas, Doc Glenn was an elder and loyal supporter of the Shiloh United Presbyterian Church of Fairfield County, and next to his God and his family, Doc Glenn loved his country, state, and county; and
Whereas, Doc Glenn was a lifelong Democrat and the sustaining member of Horeb Precinct, the oldest active precinct in South Carolina and rendered many, many years of loyal and dedicated service to the members of the Horeb Precinct as its Executive Committeeman, being recognized as one of the most conscientious and industrious members of the County Democratic Executive Committee; and
Whereas, on the fourteenth day of May, 1982, Ernest Glenn departed this life to meet his God, and at the request of the Horeb Precinct of Fairfield County to properly honor the memory of this loyal Democrat and friend this act is enacted to change the name of the Horeb Precinct to Horeb-Glenn Precinct. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Voting precincts in Fairfield County
SECTION 1. Section 7-7-250 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 799 of 1977, is further amended to read:
"Section 7-7-250. In Fairfield County there shall be the following voting precincts: Centerville; Feasterville; Horeb-Glenn; Mitford; Monticello; Ridgeway; Winnsboro, composed of Winnsboro Polling Place No. 1 (area west of Congress Street) and Winnsboro Polling Place No. 2 (area east of Congress Street); Woodward; Greenbrier; Lebanon; Jenkinsville; Winnsboro Mills; South Winnsboro; New Hope; Blairs; Gladden Grove; Hickory Ridge; White Oak; Simpson; and Blackstock.
The precinct lines defining the above precincts are as shown on maps filed with the Clerk of Court of the county and also on file with the State Election Commission as provided and maintained by the Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
