AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-260 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT IN THE EVENT A MEMBER OF THE SENATE IS INDICTED, INFORMED AGAINST, PLEADS GUILTY OR NOLO CONTENDERE TO, OR IS CONVICTED OF, A FELONY OR OFFENSE AGAINST THE ELECTION LAWS THE SENATE MAY TAKE DISCIPLINARY ACTION AS PROVIDED BY SENATE RULE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Disciplinary action may be taken as provided by Senate rule

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-13-260. Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, in the event a member of the Senate is indicted, informed against, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to, or is convicted of, a felony or offense against the election laws the Senate may take disciplinary action as provided by Senate rule."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
