AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 735 OF 1962, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE DARLINGTON COURT LIBRARY COMMISSION, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR AN INCREASE IN FUNDS FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE LIBRARY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Costs added

SECTION 1. Section 6 of Act 735 of 1962, as last amended by Act 736 of 1976, is further amended to read:

"Section 6. There is added as costs the sum of four dollars to the amount collected upon the forfeiture of any appearance bond in a criminal proceeding in any of the magistrate's courts in Darlington County. There is added as costs the sum of four dollars to any fine imposed and collected in any such proceeding. There is added five percent as costs to the amount of any criminal fine imposed and collected in the Circuit Court for Darlington County. The foregoing costs, which are in addition to any other costs imposed by law, must be set aside and held by the Treasurer of Darlington County in a special account to be designated as the `Darlington Court Library Fund'. The treasurer, in setting aside these funds, shall assume that the costs have been collected as a part of each fine or forfeiture remitted. This fund must be used solely for the maintenance, support, and operation of the Darlington Court Library, and be paid out by the Treasurer of Darlington County only upon vouchers drawn in the name of the Darlington Court Library Commission and signed by its secretary and chairman."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
