AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-140, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO POLLING PRECINCTS AND VOTING PLACES IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO REDEFINE CHRIST CHURCH PRECINCT NO. 4, RAVENEL PRECINCT NO. 2, AND JOHN'S ISLAND PRECINCT NO. 4, AND TO CREATE CHRIST CHURCH PRECINCT NO. 6, ST. ANDREWS PRECINCT NO. 15, AND JOHN'S ISLAND PRECINCT NO. 5; TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-145, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO VOTING PLACES IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO CHANGE THE VOTING PLACES FOR NUMEROUS PRECINCTS IN THE COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Christ Church Precinct No. 4 redefined

SECTION 1. Christ Church Precinct No. 4 as contained in Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended to read:

"Christ Church Precinct No. 4--Beginning at the intersection of U. S. Highway 17 and an extended line one mile west of 15 mile Landing Road and proceeding along the following course: North on said extended line to Wando River, West on Wando River to the Berkeley County line, Northeast on Berkeley County line to Honey Hill Road, South on Honey Hill Road to intersection of Palmers Bridge Road, and Old Georgetown Road, West on Old Georgetown Road to U. S. Highway 17, West on U. S. Highway 17 to point of beginning."

Christ Church Precinct No. 6 redefined

SECTION 2. Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended by adding after Christ Church Precinct No. 5:

"Christ Church Precinct No. 6--Beginning at the intersection of U. S. Highway 17 and S. C. Highway 41 proceeding along the following course: North on S. C. Highway 41 to the Berkeley County line and Wando River, East on Wando River to an extended line one mile West of 15 Mile Landing Road, South on said extended line to U. S. Highway 17, South on U. S. Highway 17 to point of beginning."

St. Andrews Precinct No. 15 redefined

SECTION 3. Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended by adding after St. Andrews Precinct No. 14:

"St. Andrews Precinct No. 15--Beginning at the point of the intersection of S. C. Highway 20 and the Stono River and proceeding along the following course: South along the waters of the Stono River to the intersection of said waters and Rantowles Creek; North along waters of said creek to the boundaries of Dorchester and Charleston County and Bear Swamp; East around boundary of Bear Swamp to S. C. Highway 57 (Bees Ferry Road); Northeast along S. C. Highway 57 to Sanders Road; Southeast on Sanders Road to the intersection of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad tracks; Southwest along Seaboard Coast Line Railroad tracks to S. C. Highway 20; South on S. C. Highway 20 to the Stono River to the point of the beginning."

Ravenel Precinct No. 2 redefined

SECTION 4. Ravenel Precinct No. 2, as contained in Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended to read:

"Ravenel Precinct No. 2--All of the unincorporated area of Charleston County commonly known as 'Ravenel section', beginning at the intersection of S. C. Highway 317 and Dorham Crossroads proceeding along the following course: East on S. C. Highway 317 to Rantowles Creek; Southeast on Rantowles Creek to Stono River; South on Stono River to an extended line of Royal Harbor Road; West on Royal Harbor Road to Chaplins Landing; North on Chaplins Landing to Seaboard Coast Line Railroad tracks; West on Seaboard Coast Line Railroad tracks along corporate boundary limits of the town of Hollywood; West and North on corporate boundary limits of the town of Hollywood to intersection of U. S. Highway 17 and boundary of the town of Ravenel; West on the boundary of the town of Ravenel to S. C. Highway 165; North on S. C. Highway 165 to point of beginning."

John's Island Precinct No. 4 redefined

SECTION 5. John's Island Precinct No. 4 as contained in Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended to read:

"John's Island Precinct No. 4--Beginning at the confluence of the Stono River and the Kiawah River proceeding along the following course: Southwest on the Kiawah River to Haul Over Creek; West on an extended line 500 feet South of Resurrection Road to Bohicket Road; West on extended line 500 feet South of Camp Care Road to Bohicket Creek; North on Bohicket Creek to an extended line ofCottage Plantation Road; East on said extended line to Cottage Plantation Road; East on Cottage Plantation Road to Bohicket Road; South on Bohicket Road to River Road; East on River Road to a tidal creek located East of Burden Creek Road; East on said tidal creek to the Stono River; South on the Stono River to point of beginning."

John's Island Precinct No. 5 redefined

SECTION 6. Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 357 of 1982, is further amended by adding after John's Island No. 4:

"John's Island Precinct No. 5--Beginning at the point where the Stono River meets the Atlantic Ocean and proceeding along the following course: Southwest along the Atlantic Ocean to the confluence of the North Edisto River; Northwest on the North Edisto River to Bohicket Creek; Northeast on Bohicket Creek to an extended line 500 feet South of Camp Care Road; East on said line to Bohicket Road; Southeast from Bohicket Road to an extended line of Haul Over Creek; East on Haul Over Creek to Kiawah River; East on Kiawah River to Stono River; South on Stono River to point of beginning."

SECTION 7. Amend Section 7-7-145 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by an Act of 1984, bearing ratification number 288, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-145. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 7-7-10, in Charleston County the voting places of the various precincts shall be as follows:

SECTION 8. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
