AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-3022 SO AS TO DESIGNATE FOREST LAKES SUBDIVISION IN THE CITY OF CHARLESTON A BIRD SANCTUARY AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Bird sanctuary designated

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-3022. The residential subdivision of that area in Charleston County, located in the City of Charleston, known as Forest Lakes, is designated a bird sanctuary, and it is unlawful for any person to trap, hunt, molest, or attempt to molest in any manner any bird or wild fowl or to molest any birds' nests or wild fowls' nests within the sanctuary.

Any person violating the provisions of this section is deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
