AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 5-31-235 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A COMMISSION OF PUBLIC WORKS MAY BE ABOLISHED BY ORDINANCE OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL AFTER A PUBLIC HEARING IF THE COMMISSIONERS OF PUBLIC WORKS UNANIMOUSLY, BY RESOLUTION, PETITION THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL TO ABOLISH THE COMMISSION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Commission of public works may be abolished

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 5-31-235. If the commissioners of public works unanimously, by resolution, petition the municipal council to abolish the commission, the municipal council may, after a public hearing, adopt an ordinance abolishing the commission of public works."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
