AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 50-9-150 AND 50-11-660, BOTH AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERMITS FOR HUNTING ON GAME MANAGEMENT AREAS AND REGULATION OF DEER TAKING IN RESTOCKED AREAS OF GAME ZONES 1, 2, AND 4, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE SOUTH CAROLINA WILDLIFE AND MARINE RESOURCES DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH OPEN AND CLOSED SEASONS, BAG LIMITS, AND THE METHODS FOR TAKING GAME ON GAME MANAGEMENT AREAS AND IN THE RESTOCKED AREAS IN GAME ZONES 1, 2, AND 4.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Open and close seasons, bag limits, etc.

SECTION 1. Section 50-9-150 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 94 of 1981, is further amended by adding at the end:

"The department may establish open and closed seasons, bag limits, and methods for taking game on all game management areas."

Taking of deer

SECTION 2. Section 50-11-660 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 101 of 1979, is further amended to read:

"Section 50-11-660. The South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Commission may, at its discretion, prescribe open and closed seasons, bag limits, and the methods by which deer may be taken and may fix the specific areas of the zones in which deer have become numerous enough to be harvested. All areas that are not specifically open to hunting must be closed. The Commission may designate the sex of the deer that may be taken and may prescribe any other regulations that may be deemed wise and expedient for the proper control of the harvesting of deer."

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
