AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 612 OF 1984, RELATING TO THE ELECTION OF TRUSTEES FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD TO REAPPOINT AN INCUMBENT TRUSTEE, IN THE EVENT NO ONE HAS FILED A PETITION OF CANDIDACY, AT LEAST SIXTY DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION INSTEAD OF AT THE TIME HIS TERM EXPIRES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Incumbent trustee may be appointed

SECTION 1. Subsection (D) of Section 1 of Act 612 of 1984 is amended to read:

"(D) An incumbent trustee may be reappointed by the board two times in the event no one has filed a petition of candidacy for that position at least sixty days before the date of the election as provided in this act."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
