AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE ORGANIZED RESCUE SQUADS AND VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN THIS STATE TO SOLICIT FUNDS FROM MOTORISTS WITHIN A MUNICIPALITY ON THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO EASTER AND THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO LABOR DAY FOR THE RESCUE SQUAD AND THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY AND THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO JULY FOURTH FOR THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Solicitation of funds from motorists

SECTION 1. Each organized rescue squad and each organized volunteer fire department in this State may solicit funds from motorists on highways and streets located within a municipality on two of the following days: The Friday prior to Easter and the Friday prior to Labor Day shall be used by the rescue squad. The Friday prior to National Memorial Day and the Friday prior to July fourth shall be used by the volunteer fire department. The solicitation shall only be made after securing prior permission from the municipality and that permission may be denied by the municipality. The solicitation of funds must be by members of the rescue squad and volunteer fire department and they must be clearly identified.

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
