AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-150, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO LEASH LAW SHALL APPLY TO A DOG WHILE IT IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN HUNTING AND UNDER SUPERVISION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Dog leash law, exception

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-150. No dog is required to be constrained by a leash while it is actually engaged in hunting game and under supervision. As used in this section 'supervision' means that the owner of the dog or his designee is either in the vicinity of the dog or in the process of trying to retrieve the dog."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
