AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-17-1621 SO AS TO PROVIDE CATCH LIMITS FOR TAKING SHRIMP BY SEINES OR CAST NETS AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Limit

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-17-1621. There is a catch limit of not more than fifty quarts of whole shrimp or thirty quarts of headed shrimp a day for each household. Possession of more than the catch limit of shrimp by any person using a shrimp seine or cast net or aboard any boat transporting any shrimp seine or cast net is prima facie evidence of a violation of this section.

Any person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction must be fined not more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
