AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-490, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA CHILDREN'S CODE, SO AS TO FURTHER DEFINE "A PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR A CHILD'S WELFARE" TO INCLUDE AN OPERATOR, CAREGIVER, AND CHILD DAY CARE FACILITY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Definition

SECTION 1. Item (E) of Section 20-7-490 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(E) 'A person responsible for a child's welfare' includes the child's parent, guardian, foster parent, an operator, employee, or caregiver as defined by Section 20-7-2700 of a public or private residential home, institution, agency, or child day care facility or other person legally responsible for the child's welfare in a residential setting."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
