A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1985 FOR GENERAL SCHOOL PURPOSES AND FOR SCHOOL BOND PURPOSES IN BERKELEY COUNTY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BERKELEY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Levy

SECTION 1. There is levied on all the taxable property of the Berkeley County School District for the calendar year 1985 a tax of sixty-five mills, the proceeds of which must be used for general school purposes for the fiscal year 1985-86, these purposes to be set forth in the county school budget for the fiscal year to be adopted as provided by law. The tax must be assessed and collected as other property taxes are assessed and collected.

Proceeds must be used

SECTION 2. There is levied on all the taxable property of the Berkeley County School District for the calendar year 1985 a tax of twenty-two and one-half mills, the proceeds of which must be used for the retirement of school bonds as required to meet obligations incurred prior to the effective date of this act. This twenty-two and one-half mill tax for school bond purposes is the total authorized levy for school bond purposes for calendar year 1985.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
