AN ACT TO AMEND ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 3 OF TITLE 23, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA LAW ENFORCEMENT DIVISION, BY ADDING SECTION 23-3-45 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DIVISION IS AUTHORIZED TO ACCEPT FINGERPRINTS OF APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BAR AND, TO THE EXTENT PROVIDED FOR BY FEDERAL LAW, TO EXCHANGE STATE, MULTISTATE, AND FEDERAL CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA BOARD OF LAW EXAMINERS FOR LICENSING PURPOSES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Division authorized to accept fingerprints

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 3 of Title 23 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 23-3-45. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is authorized to accept fingerprints of applicants for admission to the South Carolina Bar and, to the extent provided for by federal law, to exchange state, multistate, and federal criminal history records with the South Carolina Board of Law Examiners for licensing purposes."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
