AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 366 OF 1965, RELATING TO THE COLUMBIA MUSIC FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION, SO AS TO REVISE THE MANNER IN WHICH THE MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION ARE APPOINTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Members, appointment

SECTION 1. Section 2 of Act 366 of 1965 is amended to read:

"Section 2. The Commission shall consist of six members who shall serve for terms of four years and until their successors are appointed and qualify, three of whom must be appointed by the City Council of Columbia, one of whom must be nominated by the Columbia Music Festival Association, and three of whom must be appointed by the Richland County Council, one of whom must be nominated by the Columbia Music Festival Association. Any vacancy must be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired portion of the term. The members of the Commission shall meet as soon after their appointments as practicable and elect a chairman and those other officers as they may deem necessary. The Commission shall meet thereafter at those times and places as the members may determine.

The present members of the Columbia Music Festival Association shall continue to serve until their current terms of office expire at which time their successors must be appointed in the manner provided herein, with the Columbia City Council and the Richland County Council filling vacancies as they occur after the effective date of this act on an alternating basis with the Columbia City Council appointing first; provided that the vacancies to be nominated by the Board of Directors of the Columbia Music Festival Association shall be for the same positions as those previously recommended by the Columbia Music Festival Association, the first of which shall be appointed by the Columbia City Council when it becomes vacant after the effective date of this act."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
